Oral Surgery and Extractions
If a tooth has been broken or damaged by decay, your dentist will go to every effort to try to fix it. Sometimes, however, there is too much damage for the tooth to be repaired. In this case, the tooth needs to be extracted. But there is no need to worry our highly skilled and empathetic team will look after you every step of the way.
Here at Curtin dental we go to every length to ensure you have the best treatment experience possible. We take time to answer your questions and talk you through the treatment process making sure you have been given full post operative advice before we even begin. We will ensure we have an up to date medical history and any x-rays during the consultation appointment to best guide you and us on the procedure ahead.
Most simple extractions can be done using just an injection with local anesthetic. There is also an option to have sedation NO2 which you can discuss with your dentist at the consultation appointment. During a tooth extraction, you can expect to feel pressure, but no pain. Your dentist and nurse will ensure they communicate with you throughout the procedure and give you regular opportunities to rest if needed.
In some cases a more complicated extraction may be required. This is normally determined at the consultation appointment and a referral to an oral surgeon will be made to give you the best treatment option available to you.
Post operative instructions will be given to you with detailed instructions on how best to look after the socket and specific information following your appointment will be discussed with you.
No one loves having a tooth pulled out but we believe at Curtin Dental we can give you the best experience possible. So don’t worry about booking your consultation appointment, and take the first step towards having a healthy and happy mouth.
